Note to Axelrod, Obama’s Ad Team (Again!)

With the new McCain +10 poll scaring the bejebus out of every Democrat within arm’s reach of a computer, it’s time to stop running commercials that largely suck. Here’s what you need to do:

Run attack ads that use footage of McCain damning himself. Not quotes, not glorified Microsoft ads. Footage of John McCain. Here are a couple of good examples:

Skip all the liberal stuff like gay marriage and focus on his lies and flip-flops on Iraq and the economy.

Listen, the most effective political commercial in recent memory was Bush’s Kerry flip-flop, “I voted for it, before I voted against it.” The reason why? Kerry damned himself. They are the simplest, most effective possible ads. They spoon feed the viewer. McCain’s team has used them with precision and enormous efficacy.

But the Obama ad team has not. What are you waiting for? The post-mortem?

Or is this about billing?

Why wasn’t there a Biden bounce? Because McCain’s team neutralized it with footage of the man himself criticizing Obama using the exact same language McCain used. It just looked terrible. So load the cannons full with McCain’s flip-flops, lies, and hypocrisy (and Palin’s, if they exist) and show them over and over again. Stop talking about attacking and attack!

Axelrod, Plouffe, are you getting this? Get it together or get a new ad team.

Agreed, agreed. I’m tired of reading about Biden saying “extreme views” – just say extremist. She’s a half-educated, inexperience extremist. Punch somebody in the nose already.
